At Tiny Farm, we’re excited to welcome families and kids to experience our hands-on classes held right here at our home. While we want everyone to feel comfortable and have a great time, we kindly ask for respect and understanding that some areas are off-limits, including spaces under construction and our private areas. Messes are part of the learning process, but we appreciate everyone’s help in cleaning up and respecting the space. Our goal is to create a safe and positive environment for all, so let’s work together to make the experience enjoyable for everyone!
At Tiny Farm, safety around animals is a top priority. When interacting with our horses, pigs, dogs, cows, chickens, and goats, it’s important to approach calmly and avoid sudden movements or loud noises. Always ask for an adult’s permission before feeding or petting an animal, and never enter an animal’s pen without supervision. Keep fingers away from mouths to avoid accidental nips, and always be gentle with smaller animals like chickens. For larger animals like horses and cows, stay clear of their back ends and approach from the side so they can see you. Lastly, always wash your hands after handling any animals to stay clean and healthy. Let’s all work together to keep both the animals and our visitors safe and happy!
While we love having families and children at Tiny Farm, we kindly ask that parents stay with their children during classes or arrange for a designated caregiver, such as a friend or babysitter, to be present. Since we are not a state-licensed daycare, we cannot take on responsibility for unattended children. Our goal is to provide a fun and engaging environment while ensuring everyone’s safety and comfort. In the future, we hope to offer drop-off courses as we work toward obtaining the necessary licensing. Thank you for helping us create a positive experience for all!
We love the idea of families getting more involved! If you’re interested in volunteering in our garden or barn, we’re happy to offer a reduced class rate as a thank-you for your time and effort. Additionally, if you have a unique skill or interest and would like to run a class at Tiny Farm, we’d love to chat about your ideas. Let’s work together to create even more fun and learning opportunities for everyone!
At Tiny Farm, we aim to spend most of our class time outdoors, embracing all the seasons Carson City has to offer! In the winter, it’s best to wear warm layers, including a waterproof jacket, insulated boots, gloves, and a cozy hat to keep warm in the cold and snow. During fall and spring, the weather can be unpredictable, so dressing in layers is key, with waterproof footwear and a rain jacket in case of sudden rain showers. For summer, lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, and sunscreen are essential to stay cool and protected from the sun. We’ll move indoors if it gets too hot or cold, but being prepared with the right gear helps make outdoor activities fun and comfortable year-round!
